How do I create a portfolio of art?
I am a young artist, fresh from high school and I really get a portfolio of my work put in place. I have no idea where to even start. Any tips or advice are welcome. Links to sites that have step by stage are welcome. If anyone could give me a personal guide, I would die of joy. Help an artist in need??
I redesigned mine multiple times and it depends on what you are trying to do. When I freelance it was more business done. I had a resume first, followed by a list of customers, then examples of stuff I've done starting with the most recent and going backwards. I also tried to keep the differences in the media combined. (All together pen and ink, pencil all together, all paintings, logo work, etc.). Now I'm more of a redesign mine "Fine Arts" in the face and the first thing is an artist statement followed a curriculum vitae and redesigned I lowered the client list, but the rest of the establishment I try to stay even. The only thing you do not want to do is throw in everything you! Let's face it, some of the things we do not always our best. You'd better show from August to October large pieces 30 pieces so-so. Your portfolio should be and is put your best foot forward. whether it's finding a job or trying to get time this gallery the thing people base their decisions so that your best stuff should be presented. Once you know what you think acceptable to keep in mind it is constantly updated. Update your curriculum vitae and customer lists, add new work and deleting the old things, if your career and views on the change of art update your artist's statement as well. Another thing to keep in mind if you work in different things and different subjects, you better have multiple portfolios. I have one for the horror / haunted house stuff I've done and another for hot rod stuff I do now. You do not want to show how cool you can build attachments or other to someone who is interested to have a record of their trip. Even if someone wants a land scape you do not want to show them how well you can paint cats or dogs. See what I mean? At this point, you may or may not have enough experience to make a full blown portfolio but do not stop because you grow as an artist so that your body working and your portfolio is in line. There are many sites that give you the depth and significance of examples what you need. Perform a search for "how-to portfolio artist" and you should get all the information you need. Good luck!
